Maureen Fox discusses learning to dance, letting your kids make mistakes, and more.
Maureen Fox is a wife of almost 26 years, mom to 4 sons, RN, storyteller, crafter, traveler to faraway places, and professional buyer of stuff and sometimes seller of said stuff. Maureen is number seven of 10 kids, but the oldest, emotionally, of the second half, of whom she did a lot of caretaking. Maureen hated babysitting, but loved and continues to love cleaning (except bathrooms).
Maureen works thirty hours a week as a registered nurse in a very busy urgent care clinic. While she has strong clinical skills, her true talent lies in de-escalating tense patient situations (probably coming from the many years practicing on her siblings).
Maureen loves to shop for herself and anyone else who will let her, but her favorite kind of shopping is for vintage junk and paying as little as possible for it. She recently had the opportunity to learn the art of negotiating while shopping for wholesale items in slum markets in Nairobi, Kenya.
While she is happiest on a hot summer day by the river, she also loves to explore Portland, Oregon’s food scene, hip-hop dancing, and jigsaw puzzles. You can hear more from Maureen on her unedited podcast, Mrsguidedmom, on Podbean.
